Midwifery Nursing and Women’s Health

Primary care is offered by nurse-midwives to women in childbearing age groups in a range of inpatient and outpatient settings, such as homes, hospitals, and birth centers. Their treatment is based on the fundamental conviction that all physiological processes, including childbirth, should be supported by a wellness-oriented approach that includes illness prevention and promotion. In addition to creating a nurturing environment and building relationships with women and their families, a registered nurse who has completed advanced education focused on the primary health care needs of women throughout their lives, with a focus on conditions specific to women from menarche through the remainder of their lives, can also provide individualized care that minimizes unnecessary interventions while offering the same tests and medications and practices as those of their medical equivalents. In addition, they offer family planning and gynecologic treatment. When necessary, they also confer with our board-certified OB/GYN doctors and other experts.
